Flying Christine III
Celebrates 25 Years of Service
Saturday 30th November saw the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Flying Christine III, the Seaward ambulance boat stationed at Guernsey.
Built by Seaward Marine in 1994 she serves the islands in all weathers with her intrepid crew and paramedics. Mark Huntley (Chairman) and Chris Clayton (Managing Director) attended the commemoration along with past and present crew and many others at the Guernsey Yacht Club.
The event was hosted by Jim Cathcart from St John Ambulance who explained how vital the boat is to all who inhabit the islands and the many visitors that come each year too. Mark Mapp the Chief Ambulance Officer then provided a couple of real life anecdotes involving expectant mothers on nearby Sark! In fact he is responsible for helping the safe arrival of the major constituents of the island! There was a short video presentation followed by a report from the deputy bailiff of Bailiwick. Mark and Chris were then invited on board Flying Christine III for a short trip around the harbour with skipper Dave at the helm.
Thank you, from all at Seaward and we congratulate Flying Christine and the team who maintain this incredible lifeline.
