What better endorsement for Seaward’s famous Nelson all-weather pilot and work boats than from the people who go to sea in them…
“The Seaward 42 is a great boat. Ours has been working hard – 6,500 running hours so far. We have hard winters here in Denmark. One day there was half a meter of ice on top of the boat and all the engine-air-intakes were blocked. We melted the ice and the boat was ready again.
I know that she is a very strong boat. What more can I say? Would I buy another one? Definitely!”
Capt Carlson – Fredericia Pilots
Seaward have been building rugged Nelson commercial and leisure motor boats for more than 3 decades, and all 270 of them are still hard at work. We will be showing plans for a series of workboat and pilot boat applications across the range from 19ft to 50ft like this Seaward 29 (below), specially produced to meet the requirements of the Crouch Harbour Authority.
Extended wheelhouse Nelson 42 Pilot Boat
Also on display will be plans for an extended wheelhouse version of Seaward’s Nelson 42 Pilot Boat with an 8 seat cabin configuration. This is a highly developed version of earlier TT Designs, but now has an extensively developed hull form and a ‘floating’ wheelhouse, which reduces noise and vibration considerably – very important when pilot crews are out on station for 8 hours or more at a time.
The latest Seaward Nelson pilot boats are operating out of harbours as far afield as Denmark Tenerife and La Reunion. This extended wheelhouse version allows such vessels to serve multiple ships and or provide personnel transfers. Depending on the engines selected, they also have a service speed of 25knots through just about any conditions, and the ability and facilities to stay on station for extended periods if required
