Rally 2014 – Darthaven Marina, Kingswear, Dartmouth – Friday 6th June to Sunday 8th June 2014.

Thank you, to all the Squadron members who responded to my recent email, requesting suggestions of possible venues for next year’s rally. After much deliberation it has been decided to hold the rally in the beautiful Dart River. It is hoped that this location will enable many of the Seawards from the West Country to attend and that it will not be too challenging for those boats based in the Solent.

The River Dart is one of the finest natural harbours on the south coast and you enter the harbour between the twin castles of Dartmouth and Kingswear. The town of Dartmouth is situated on the west shore and Kingswear on the east. The Darthaven Marina, shown in the picture above, has a dedicated visitors area where we should be able to berth together and excellent on-shore facilities. A frequent ferry service takes passengers over to Dartmouth, with it’s attractive streets, shops and many restaurants. It is expected that we will hold our Saturday Gala Dinner at the
Royal Dart Yacht Club, which has panoramic views over the harbour. An
informal dinner will also be arranged on the Friday evening.

There are lots of things to do, in and around Dartmouth and on the Saturday it is planned to arrange a cruise, in company, up the picturesque river, to Totnes.

It is hoped that as many boats will gather as possible, however if you consider that the journey, by sea, is too much, then you are most welcome to come by car. There are many guest houses and hotels in the area.

I know it is a long time until June 2014 but I do need to get a idea of numbers.

Please email me the following information as soon as possible.

I hope to attend the rally in Dartmouth, June 6th – June 8th 2014
